Before I even had a chance to announce the opening of my Little Free Library, I received a gift of sorts. While walking up the steps with a friend I shouted excitedly, "Someone has left a book for the library!" I recognized the cover from the many book stores I frequent.
I work with children and adults with physical, cognitive, and emotional/social disabilities. I don't think there is a more appropriate "first donation" for my LFL than this book. Wonder is a tale of a young boy who faces social challenges far more fiercely than the physical challenges with which he was born. I was thrilled to have it as an addition to The Neighborly Book Exchange, as I feel it carries a WONDERful message.
It was only after closer examination that I noticed it wasn't your typical donation. Tucked in the jacket of the book was a blue card.

"Congratulations! You found WONDER! We encourage you to post a picture of yourself holding up the book in front of a Little Free Library and hashtag #ShareWonder to enter a nationwide sweepstakes to win screening passes to a screening of WONDER and/or WONDER-themed prize packs! Remember to #ShareWonder by returning this book and message to a LFL near you so others can enjoy and participate as well! Choose Kind, Your Friends at Lionsgate"
The fine print states that the event runs 8/8/17-11/1/17 for anyone 13 or older.
I'm so excited that the University Park Neighborly Book Exchange gets to be involved in this great event, and I encourage our locals to stop by the LFL and take a picture with the book while it's here. (Please remember that LFL books come and go, so it is possible the book will be gone when you arrive). Happy Reading!
